hi thetragichero, My amp makes noise... it was bought in 1999... and I’d personally like to remove that noise. Any ideas of what to check? Maybe this is insane... don’t know; figured you’d know; you’ve repaired so many amps; I’ve only turned an amp on and moved the dials.

what does the noise sound like? amps can make all kinds of noises, some of them sound good (like a guitar) unfortunately amps of this ilk were mainly produced to be disposable. you could clean pots and jacks but if you value your time at all anything further tracking down issues would better be spent buying or building a new amp. it could be any number of things that could be found locally with test equipment but from a distance with no description of what the bad sound is all i can really offer is a shrug

Thank you thetragichero so much for all of your insight! I’m going to try to buy a new amp... newey gave me a good idea of the market and what I could look for.
