Hi Guys😸😸😸,
As many of you know, I solder everyday for a few hours. I use 60/40 solder; but, have started to worry about the long term health effects.
So, I was wondering if any of you know of a good alternative solder. I need something that won’t frustrate. Something professional. I appreciate it.

in short, no proper ventilation/fume hood should go a long way from what i understand the fumes of lead singer aren't so bad but the fumes from the flux are
oh.... and don't chew on your solder 🙃

“No lead” solder would be like soldering with water.I use a Sn62/Pb36/Ag2 solder and it’s much more liquid than your Sn60/Pb40 solder. After learning from reTrEaD’s kester.com link, he provided me, that “ Sn63Pb37 is eutectic and as such has no plastic range.”, I feel that the less lead a solder has the more liquid it becomes. Periodic Table shows Pb is lead. Sn is tin. Ag is silver.I understand your question… I physically felt much better, afterwards, when I had the window open while soldering. Ventilation, as thetragichero says, is key.

The biggest exposure risk from lead solder isn't the fumes- it's lead residue on your hands getting transferred to your mouth. Always wash your hands thoroughly and clean your work surface after using lead solder. Proper ventilation is still important, because of the flux fumes.

“No lead” solder would be like soldering with water. No. This is apparently a careless extrapolation on your part. Unless you have experience with lead-free solder or are a metallurgist, don't go there.

I have a fan going on my table; but, I don’t wash my hands enough. But I am going to try the alternatives. Thanks to you all😺😺😺
