All Hail the newest arisen Lord of the Solder and Wires, UncleMickey-Zeus --- Inducted into the Hall of the Gods.
As he is arisen to the exalted mount and achieves his rightful place in the celestial fabric, he inspires hope to we mere mortals that one day, one life, we too might be lifted to dine with the pantheon of the mighty..... So if you have not noticed Unk has achieved a participation 'score' that takes him into "god" status on the board. And more power to him. Of course I too want to be god, to be cast in bronze, to be worshiped ..... but am unlikely to achieve Unk's volume of posts. And that brings us to the meat of this post: What are the criteria to progress the realms and achieve nirvana? (for those concerned about blastphemy, the "god" term is probably derrived from the gamer set, as that is a typical cheat in games where you have infinite lives, powers and weapons).I suspect the criterion is post volume, certainly not any qualitative evaluation(s) (and the lack of subjective criteria is fine). However, is numerical volume a true measure of participation? Keeping with the religious theme I offer a parable: I have a friend (poor soul) who decided he needed to lose some weight, no doubt inspired by "Biggest Loser." He entered into a weight loss competition with another corpulent friend, significantly more corpulent. Friend 1 wanted to lose 20lbs, tangent friend 2 wanted and needed to loose 70lbs. After two weeks they had a weigh off. F1 lost 9 pounds, TF2 lost 10lbs. Which one lost the most? Sure, you immediately choose TF2 .... 10 -9 = 1 more lb lost. And you would be ....... WRONG. Why? You need more data and proper indexing evaluation. Stats: T1: 6'1" start weight of 209lbs TF2: 5'11", start weight 260lbs. So let's re-evaluate. Do the math and you see that T1 lost 9 lbs, and 4.31% of his starting weight. On a Body Mass Index (BMI) delta basis, he went from 27.6 to 26.4 or a shift of 4.35% TF2 lost 10 lbs, and 3.85% of his starting weight. On a Body Mass Index (BMI) delta basis, he went from 27.6 to 26.4 or a shift of 3.86%. So with a more meaningful set of scales (pun intended) T1 won the competition because of a greater relative shift, even though the nominal delta was less. Those who post frequently but with only one character per post could achieve god status rapidly (just an example Unk, you are both frequent and er .... character-count prolific). Infrequent but verbose posters would have low frequency scores and must forever toil amongst mere mortals. Should there not be a more meaningful index of evaluation to the path of righteousness? Perhaps total character counts. Of course any system could be gamed. I could post a 100 (or more) 1 character posts to move among the mighty, and if it were a character based system then you could cut and paste the text version of War and Peace. But are these not the big questions in life? RW, supplicant, seeker and aspirant to GodHeadness

There are some quandaries, RW, that no man shall ever know the rightful answer to, as the divine nature of their mechanisms eludes the comparatively simplistic human mind.
...except me, of course, 'cause I'm the admin. XD

Well I am actually quite pleased to learn that the elevation to deity status is automatic. It is egalitarian. Prior to reading this thread, I had just assumed that Unkl had edited his personal profile - and I was happy to accept that in his case! J

Well, based on this single post from Runewalker, I nominate status of Tenured Full Professor, which is much more difficult to achieve than mere "god".

So, unlkmickey, did you hear the one about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac that stayed up all night wondering if there was a dog?
AND, a virgin has patience (don't experiment, it's NOT low voltage.)

UNK: "...yeah, but after they aren't anymore, some of them switch to battery power...." Mr Bam! (not Emeril): ".... and when batteries toll are high, adapters took its way.
Seems like they're sharing our problems with batteries, don't they ? ..." And I thought AC/DC meant something entirely different. Exactly whose back did they break and how did they .......? Oh never mind, I don't want to know. (w/ apologies to Angus and Malcolm).

I've been playing a bit of drums. It's fun, but guitar will always be my first love.
