Im very much a fan of the roll off and conservative "treble bleed" that 50s wiring gives. But I absolutely dont like how rolling off the tone cuts the volume. Ive tried Duncan and Kinman treble bleeds in the typical values and feel they retain too much treble and sound tinny sometimes in the upper parts of the volume knob. The series (Kinman) sounded the closest to 50s wiring to me but still slightly over the top. The parallel (Duncan) version I dont like how it alters the taper of the volume pot.
The 50s wiring just had a "natural" feel to it that I really liked and now miss and how it cleans up the amp easily. Just didint like how it affected the tone pot. Is it possible to closely approximate the affect with a RC Parallel or Series Treble Bleed circle so I get something similar to 50s wiring but without the volume loss on the tone pot? The typical treble bleed values are just too treble bleed for my ears. The best treble bleed I tried was .001uf Cap with 130K or 220K resistor in series (Kinman). Depending if the guitar was a 250K pot guitar or a 500K pot guitar. I never tried the treble bleed in the Les Paul. This sounded good in the Tele and very much like the 50s wiring but hated it in my Strat and didint sound like my Strat with a master tone pot wired 50s style.
Got several different guitars. Got a P90 SG JR with 2 500K pots, a Tele with S/C pickups and 250K pots, a Les Paul with 4 500K pots, and a Strat with 2 250K pots. All the guitars use .022uf cap on the tone pot. I use a 10ft cord if that matters.
Thanks-
