the regular Strat pickup selections along with something else. The something else in this case is five new pickup selections- three series options and two series/parallel combinations of all three pickups. The two parallel/series selections are middle and bridge in parallel, with the neck pickup in series with both of them, and middle and neck in parallel, with the bridge pickup in series with both of them. These two combos are my favourite way of combining three coils. They seem to have a better balance between coils than the alternative of putting two coils in series, with a third coil in parallel with both.
The three series combos are B*M, M*N and N*B. This isn't really a Brian May inspired guitar, but I want to point out that you do get six of the seven Red Special pickup combinations, along with all the regular Strat sounds plus the two three-pickup selections.
This design uses a 4PDT to switch modes, and it isn't really well suited to having two separate tone controls. I drew the wiring diagram with a fender S1 switch, master tone and a bass cut. The bass cut is useful, espacially with the series sounds, but it isn't a key part of the design. You could leave out the bass cut and use a 4PDT toggle switch instead of the S1.
