Just finished wiring a Squire Strat with good results. It has two extra tones , a mater volume and passive treble and bass controls (PTB) and has stock appearance. I didn’t have a 1 Meg reverse log pot (C1M) so used a C500k reverse log pot for the base. Thanks John H. For help with the PTB. I will use this tone circuit on other guitars as well because I like to individually control the base and treble. I’ve been comparing this ones tone with my other guitars ( a mim strat which has 3 lil 59ers, a partscaster HSS I just finished, a new squire Tele, a Tele copy, and a Les Paul copy). The Neck and Bridge in series in position one and all three pickups on position 2 ( (NxB)+M. ) really make a fuller HB like tone which is not muddy at all. I’d really like to compare this circuit with the same values except a C1M pot recommended for the PTB instead of the C500k which is what I had available. Nevertheless Im satisfied. This is a very simple and inexpensive mod for anyone interested, will keep the look of the guitar if a push pull is used and really increases the base without losing brightness. A DPDT mini toggle would work as well if one doesn’t mind having one or mind drilling a hole in the faceplate. This was wired with parts I have on hand but would cost maybe $25 for the 2 caps and 2 pots. Depending on where you purchased. I opened the push-pull pot I had on hand a made it no load which isn’t difficult. There are directions out there but just involved taking a blade and removing one end of the resistive track the wiper travels over so that at end of its travel where pin one is at there is no contact and instaed of the circuit reading 250k it opens up and is disconnected. Having a push pull DPDT on it meant I had to pull up on the shaft to get enough room to scratch off the end of the resistive track and had to be careful not to break the switch. It went well with just a utility blade but an exacto would work as well . Thanks for all the help and encouragement !

jimcorliss- Glad it worked out for you. JohnH is the master of tone controls around here, so you were wise to follow his advice on this.

That's great! I think Neck and Bridge in series is a great tone, my favorite 'extra' sound with SSS.

Thanks. So easy. I’ll use it again. The PTB circuit is so much more versatile than a single tone control as well .
