Question: How does this site (guitarnutz2) function?
Surely it costs you as a group money to operate.
I understand now that you give your time as volenteers but you must have cost for IT and equipment etc.
You have members, staff and guests. What differs between these ranks?
I am asking puely out of interest as I could not find anything relating to operation on the Home site. I did read with interest the 'A brief history ...' page and I am amazed with the tenacity of John S Atchly and the group and how you overcame the brutal hacking ordeal.
I am sure that others guests may have these questions in mind.

Our forum uses hosting services from ProBoards.com. We do not pay for these services, they're free, the downside being that you'll see some banner ads to pay for the services. ProBoards has a paid option available that would get us some more bells and whistles to play with, but we don't pay the extra for that. Every so often, someone will pay ProBoards and we'll have a month or so without ads, but that's strictly voluntary.

Guests can browse the forum but cannot post anything except in our guest posting area (which I don't think anyone has ever used . . .). Those who sign up as members can post. The staff members have extra admin powers to moderate the site. There are various levels of extra authority- admins have all the extra powers over the entire forum, global moderators have a lesser set of powers over the whole forum, and moderators have limited extra powers over the particular sub-board they moderate. But as a staff, we operate by consensus, so the staff rankings don't really mean too much in practice as all the staff have an equal say in our discussions.
