I wanted my mij 57RI with Texas Specials to be more sparkly, especially in position 4. Not one to keep swapping pickups I figured if I got rid of one or both tone pots that should help. I tried a PTB and that helped a lot, but I wanted more. I got inspired by Dirk Wacker's article on Scott Henderson's strat that has the tone bypassed for in-between positions with a super switch. After examining the stock switch, I figured I could cut the sides of the rotating contact area on the tone side so that it would not work for in-between positions. It's a delicate operation that I used a Dremal on. Now I have a master Bass pot and the Treble only for positions 1 and 5. Very happy with the tone now.
