basically what the title says. I got new pots for a guitar but I don't think they're the problem, it's probably because of my lack of wiring knowledge lol

guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/1612/read-before-post-questionEDIT: Sir voiturefemelle, you’ve just asked a question that seems easy to solve, yet there are multiple causes for that inquiry. Therefore, I felt this thread would help you to be more specific in a follow up post. More information is usually beneficial for problem solving. The members here who problem solve the best enjoy information provided. Maybe, if you provide enough, they may even offer info that could help solve another potential problem, if there is one. Rest assured, I meant NO harm to you with the single link. I just had to go quickly somewhere else at that time.

voiturefemelle- unreg's right, we're going to need more detail than just that. What values are the pots you're using? Linear or log taper? How are they wired? Probably more questions than just those, but that's a start.

Tone knob doesn't work when the volume is anywhere below 10 Troubleshooting over the internet can be quite a challenge. The more information and details you provide, the more you increase the likelihood of success. Does this guitar have a 1-volume, 1-tone configuration, or are there more pots than that? Can you provide a wiring diagram and/or a picture of your wiring?Did this problem first arise when you replaced your pots or could it have existed prior to the replacement? How far below "10" does the volume need to be, before the tone pot ceases to function? Does the volume control adversely affect the guitar's tone, in other words does the tone become dull and lacking in treble when the volume is reduced?
