Hi, I found the diagram below and would like to use it for my HSS Strat build. Unfortunately, I am not sure which kind of 5-way switch I would have to use - which one would you recommend? Being an amateur at all things electronic, I can see what‘s going where in the diagram, but to be able to solder this thing, I would need something like a physical representation of the parts, especially the DPDT switch. All these lugs are confusing… Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello mikecg, that was quick. After lots of scratching my head I’m beginning to understand how that wiring works, but if I bought the Fender switch I wouldn‘t know where to put which wire. Even a very simple wiring diagram for the 5 way switch would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Stefan

All these lugs are confusing… Thank you in advance for your help. The connections on the left side of the selector in your drawing (from top to bottom) would go to the following lugs on either switch shown below: 1 2 3 6 7 The connection on the right side of the selector in your drawing goes to lug 4 Regarding the DPDT, if you're using a push-pull pot, it will look something like this: The connections on the right side of the DPDT in your diagram correspond to the lugs in the middle of the circled area of my image. The left side connections the arrows are pointing to in your diagram correspond to the lugs at the top of the circled area of my image. The left side connections away from the arrows in your diagram correspond to the lugs at the bottom of the circled area of my image.

Thank you very much, this confirms what I found out by using a multimeter to check every single lug combination. Now there is only one question left: the Humbucker wires. Tonerider pickups have the same color code as Dimarzios (screw coil start green, end white, slug coil start black, end red). Screw slug is facing the bridge. The little knowledge I have lets me think there are two possible wiring choices. Would both of them work? None? If both, is one better than the other? Thanks for all your help. Stefan
