Hello.
I am trying to upgrade a First Act ME-537 guitar. The body only takes one pickup, a humbucker. I have a Seymour Duncan 4 wire humbucker. I also have two Mojotone 500k CTS DPDT push/pull potentiometers. For the past couple days I have been scouring the Internet trying to find a wiring diagram for a possible configuration of these electronics. I have not been successful.
I would greatly appreciate it if you folks could email me a few wiring diagrams indicating possible scenarios for this setup. Any configuration I would be interested in must include an option for coil split. I am also interested in the possibilities of series/parallel toggling, as well as phase switching.
Any help you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Chris Durham

Hello chrisdurham . Welcome to GN2. I removed the email address from your post for two reasons. - To protect your privacy and the likelihood of your inbox being spammed.
- We prefer to engage in conversation in the public space so others can participate, knowing what's already been covered. An so onlookers can also benefit.
Here is a drawing I modified from Guitar-Electronics that should suit your needs. The DPDT aren't show as being mounted on the pots, so you can assign them however they suit you. When pulled, the DPDT on the right over-rides the DPDT on the left and single-coil mode is selected. North (slug) coil only. When it is pushed, the pickup is in two-coil mode. The left DPDT selects series (pushed) or parallel (pulled) Wait for another guitarnut to proofread my work to insure I haven't made any errors.

reTrEaD, chrisdurham- RT's diagram checks out by me, with the proviso that the white wire connects to common lugs on both switches. Where the zigzag was drawn over the series/parallel switch, it threw me at first as to whether a connection was intended there- it is.

By the way, what does the orange symbol on the tone pot represent?

Okay, I've got this wired up in my guitar. I'm using the volume pot to do the series/ parallel switch, and I'm using the tone pot to do the coil split. As long as I don't try to split the coil, I get good sound coming out. But when I pull the tone pot to split the coil, it all goes dead. I've checked everything over and I think I have it wired as indicated by the diagram. Does anybody please have any advice?
Thank you so much for your help.

chrisdurham- The diagram is good, so I suspect a bad connection in there somewhere, probably a bad ground from the split switch. The quick, "down and dirty" fix is to hit all your solder joint again with your iron and remelt the connections. That will often fix a bad connection. Also, wiggling the wires a bit will often disclose a bad solder joint. If that doesn't work, more extensive troubleshooting will be needed. This is one of those things where having eyes on it helps a lot; it is difficult to diagnose wiring issues over the web whereas a quick look might disclose a problem. So, I suggest the above methods first.
