Hi Guys, I am trying to help a friend with a pedal problem. It combines a mini Orange Terror with a Bassman type preamp. It takes 18 volts and steps it up to 220 volts (?). Anyway, the impulse controller keeps blowing. He purchased this pedal and does not have the schematic (or can get it). Another pedal builder thinks it there is a problem in the impulse converter but can’t find the problem. I know it’s a long shot but I thought one (or more) of you experts might have an idea of what might be wrong. As always, thank you.

Hello again frets, Mystery questions: What is an impulse controller? Micro or Tiny Terror Orange amp? I'm wondering if you mean guitar pedal with impulse response (IR) loader function? The Micro has a twin triode preamp ("Bassman type"?) followed by a solid-state output stage, runs from a wall wart power supply rated at +15 VDC (positive polarity) and 2A and puts out 20W RMS into an 8 Ohm load. The Tiny is a tube amp and runs from a normal wall plug (100, 110, 230 - 240 VAC). Is your customer trying to use an -18 VDC pedal board supply (negative polarity) to power a Micro Orange amp? I hope not - as these things are totally incompatible!

I have asked my friend the questions you posed. I know it is a long shot but he is desperate. I thought if any group would know it would be this one. I will find out as much as he knows and get back to you all.
