Hi! First time poster here! Just finished the typical GuitarNuts procedure on my MIM Telecaster and all is not well. :-( Last weekend, I installed a set of Bill Lawrence pups. They were a big improvement over the stock pups, but I still had a good bit of background hum when not touching the strings or other metal parts. Thus, I figured I'd spend today doing the shielding thing. When I finished the shielding work and tested the set up, there was clearly a big improvement for the bridge pup. However... when I flip the pickup switch to the neck or center positions, both pups go dead! If I break the contact between the control cover and the control cavity shielding (i.e. break the shielding circuit), the pups come back on but so does the hum! Here is a link to a wiring diagram of my Tele as it currently exists: img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/blackbelt308/wilsontele.jpgNote that I used shielded wire from the pup cavities to the control cavity, and for the output wires. I'm figuring that either I have too many grounds or not enough, or something is crossed up somewhere. Can anyone see anything in my wiring diagram that looks awry? Thanks in advance for your help! Rick

Nevermind! LOL The shield dump wire in the neck cavity was making contact with the wire terminals on the bottom of the neck pup! Problem solved!
Impressive improvement over the stock Tele! Absolutely ZERO hum now!
Thanks, Rick
