My number one Strat has been in the shop since January 25th. I wanted it refretted with 6105's. I was told at the time it would take about 2 weeks. Well my fast fingered friends, we are now into April and I still dont have her back! Do you think I am within my rights to get some type of discount when I do get it back?

Maybe you are, but ask yourself these questions: - Do I have another luthier/shop I can go to in the future? - Am I otherwise happy with this luthier? - If so, is it worth severing our relationship over this? I always say, "I can't afford to have an antagonistic relationship with the person who works on my guitars."

Servant,
your post shows signs of common sense and moderation.
are you sure you're a guitarist? lol
definitely wouldn't hurt to ask if a higher priority could be put on completing this job.
and upon completion, it certainly would be reasonable to ask the luthier, if he felt it appropriate to offer a discount, to improve the customer relationship, since it took so much longer than the quoted time.
note that no where in this post were the words "rights" or "demand" used.

Servant, your post shows signs of common sense and moderation. are you sure you're a guitarist? lol unk Yeah, unk, I'm pretty sure... I had an experience like this when my Epi Casino was in the shop. Due date after due date came and went. In the end, we were all happy, but I asked something like this: - Next time, what can I expect to be a reasonable turn-around time, to save me all the trips? - And what should I say when I drop it off so you'll know that I really need it back soon? Hope that helps.
