i didn't catch if it is the tape of the london concert or the new york.

WHOO HOOO!!! Here's the bill from the PBS site: "The legendary '60s supergroup Cream, featuring Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, reunites and returns 37 years after their last performance to London's Royal Albert Hall, for a series of shows on May 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th, 2005." Go here to look up when it'll be on in your area - apparently it's different times for different regions. www.pbs.org

The December 2005 issue of Guitar World includes on the CD with that issue {everyone turn your speakers down for a minute} CREAM LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL: "WHITE ROOM, " "BADGE," AND MORE! {My apologies for "shouting."} That issue has probably been all bought up or replaced by another, but you might be able to get one from the publisher, via www.guitarworld.com.

last night i'm watchin' this thinkin': this is o.k., but the mix is really lousy. i mean you can hardly hear what jack is doin' on the bass. a little better when he changed to a fretted one, but still weak.
then it dawns on me. this is the first time i've watched anything with music on this lcd set. little tiny 2 inch speakers, of course there's no bass.
intermission time, what to do? where are my cables? hmmm? phono to 1/4 adapter, yeah, that'll work. fire up the V4b and the 1-18 cabinet. brightness off, treble on min, mid select 3k, midrange at 9 o'clock, bass at 4 o'clock. ease up the volume to match what's comin' out of the set. yeah - that's what i'm talkin' about! much better.
the concert of the decade, not so much.
but it was impressive how much can be done with just three pieces and virtually no effects.
i was surprised that E.C. didn't even use a wah on White Room. but he made is so you (almost) didn't miss it.
definitely worth the time.

Hi Unk, Being a bit of a dinosaurs myself Played back in the 60's 70's era anything from top 40 to underground.Leads and bass. Have a question for ya... Getting back into some Funk and disco stuff on the Bass songs By Donna Summer,Cool & Gang, and more such as "Fame,She's Fresh."etc.(Nice Riffs) Now listening to the bassist in Whitney Houstons "Be my Baby Tonight" Do you have any Idea of what type effect or effects the bass man is using? (Kind of growl w/ somewhat envelope shaper or Flange ) On Donna Summers "Radio " I used a Korge Octaver (sounds the same) Tried that with Whitney NG. Have any clue?

Hi Unk, If your talking about the lead player my guess sounds like he's playing through a Small Stone Phase Shifter. Although I use to experiment with that and the DOD FX 25 could be both set at low effect and using the Bridge Pickup.Really nice sound...

maybe i got it wrong, but it sounded to me like the "lead", is perfectly doubled with a bass. i got the impression it was a bass player with some fancy equipment. maybe it is a guitar and a bass and they're just that tight. all i know is the liner notes don't give away any facts.

Spent a lot of wasted youth on headphones and in that Wheels of Fire space. Lotza notes.
then 2005 --- old coots playing like they were a cover band. Where;s the fire? Oh Jack, what happened to you? Are you sitting on a chair. Where are the long, self-indulgent jams?
And Eric you played a Les Paul and 335 in Cream, then you went with that *&!$# midtone boost croppy trying to make your strat sound like a LesPaul again. If you want to sound like a Les Paul, then buy one ..... we know you can afford it.
At least in what I have hearf, it was pretty tame compared to the Fillmore tapes. Of course, Ginger probably is not as fond of uppers now.
I read an article somewhere where Eric was complaining that being in a threepiece was a lot more work than traveling with his big band where all he had to do was lay out the bridge lead between singing verses.

I heard "White Room" on the radio a few weeks ago, and I think 'ol Eric should have blown the dust off of his Les Paul. There was most certainly something missing. Dare I say the OOOOMPH!...was missing?
