If you are familiar with any of those bands, you can figure out where my musical preferences lie.

Sean Costello The Mannish Boys Bob Marley
You should checkout both the Mannish Boy and Sean Costello, Frenchie. I think they would be right up your alley, neither is as high octane as Bonamassa but they sure can play the Blues!

I've heard "Big Head Todd and the Monsters" every now and then doing a song called Come On (not the Albert King, Jimi, and Stevie Ray song). It rocks! Anybody know what CD it's on and if it's a good CD? I like those guys, but they aren't on the radio much.

In my car CD player: Joe Satriani - Is There Love In Space? In my 5-disc changer at home: Bruce D*ckinson-Skunkworks (had to censor the word, it changed it to "thingyinson" LOL) Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia, John McLaughlin - Friday Night in San Francisco - seriously recommended for those who love insane acoustic playing...fantastic!! Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden (history buff??! you'll love this CD) Toto - Greatest Hits Eric Johnson - Venus Isle Nice mix, eh? LOL www.shredbaron.com

Baron ManShred Von PickedOften You are listening to THE Bruce Dlckinson? The one who wanted more cowbell on "Don't Fear The Reaper"? ;D ******************************************* Anyway, what I listen to mainly are 1960's "One Hit Wonders". Also, I like garage bands (Paul Revere and the Raiders being the archetypal garage band of all time).

Damir Simic - Shime First CD release. This guy is fron Croatia, and with Mike Terrana on Drums, Tiho Borosak on Bass and Steve Stevens of Billy Idol fame backing him up and trading riffs, well you know by reading this post it's gonna be good. I actually got an inspiring blaze going. Lots of instrumental technical shreding on this one. Crossfade Featuring singer songwriter Ed(Home) Sloan First CD release with heavy guitars lots of melody and you can actually feel the emotion in the music. Unlike so many new attempts that have been tried elsewhere. John Petrucci First solo release, "Suspended Animation" What can I say ! If you know Petrucci's prior work with Dream Theater then nuf-said.......just listen. Thanxx to ------"ErickH"------for helping an old guy remember. I'd like to think that my mistakes came from too much knowlege, but that aint true.

I bought some CDs that I've had on vinyl but haven't listened to for a while because I don't have my turntable set up:
Chilliwack, "Wanna Be a Star" and "Opus X". The late Brian "Too Loud" MacLeod had the best ever Strat/Marshall tone ever IMO. I'm going to get his Headpins CDs soon.
Also I picked up Gerry Rafferty's "North and South" as well as "On a Wing and a Prayer". Gerry Rafferty is my favorite male vocalist and a great songwriter, plus, he is the master of multitracked self-harmonization. And it doesn't hurt that Jerry Donahue is playing guitar on a lot of his later work. I'm hoping to be able to get a complete Gerry Rafferty collection on CD and then I can retire the GR vinyl.

I have 3 cartridges for my 6 cd car changer. Two change quite regularly but one rotates through the guitar heroes and guitar driven bands; Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, Robert Cray, Colin James, Jeff Healey, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Zepplin, AC/DC, and the like. You just can't beat classic rock, and the blues!
Rock on!

btw, for those out there who think the band that heartThorSound's listening to, The Strokes, are over-rated garage rockers, let me just say, it ain't really garage rock and there's some good, tight guitar playing going on in that band.

Derek and The Dominos' Layla (and other love songs). One of my favorite albums from my younger days, which my kids got for me for Father's Day. Clapton could really play back then and his songwriting was at his best. I guess being strung out on heroin and in love with George Harrison's wife really fired up ol' Slowhand's creative juices!

+1 for JJ Cale. Heavily influenced by him. Otherwise, I can't seem to get out of this Dwight Yoakam freakout I've been in for the last year or so....
The past couple of days I've been pretty nonstop with radioioCountry. I have to recommend this internet radio station for anyone who is having trouble finding good country music programming. Great mix of older stuff (70s era heavyweights); bluegrass-derived styles; Americana-type country styles (think John Hiatt, Prine, Shaver)- without any of that dreadful new stuff (you know what I'm talking about)
