Hi........I have a Strat, but the volume pot is too close to the bridge for my style of playing! I was wanting to remove the centre pot (tone pot) and move the volume pot into its place. Any assisstance would be greatly appreciated....Thank You

hi Nuthugger, welcome to GuitarNuts2. i guess your name refers to the fact that you like to play toward the headstock end of the fretboard. otherwise, i don't wanna know. (don't ask, don't tell...) re-locating your volume control shouldn't be hard. you will probably want to wire the remaining tone pot, so it is a master? you will have to do just a bit of soldering, but probably not so much. can you read a schematic? (this kind of drawing): or will you need a wiring diagram (pictorial)? like this:

Hi Nuthugger
Welcome. i've got the same problem and just took out all the pots and replaced them with a circuit, very helpfully provided by unklmickey (see the thread - Removal of pots - in the wiring section). I also moved the selector switch right to the bottom. This does mean that you have to create your own scratchplate/pickguard (not something to try if you don't have the right tools/experience/knowledge - but after three or four botched attemps and loads of wasted plastic, it becomes easier). I have to say though that the guitar changed into a beast after that modification, and nothing gets in my way anymore.
