Hi, I am no expert on strings at all so I hope someone can help with this. It also may sound like a dumb question but im not proud. lol I have noticed that the top E string on a squier has a sort of a loose twang to it. Other guitars I have do not make the same noise. Is it a Nut, Bridge of string trait? I have no idea.

'twang'=buzz or sitar-sound? Possible causes for top (high) E-string: too shallow angle over nut, badly cut nut, burr on bridge saddle. The twang is a secondary vibration of the string in the nut, saddle or both. Can you locate which end gives you the twang? If the string is not sitting properly and securely in the nut or saddle it will vibrate against it rather than being held snug and anchored against it. Sometimes it can be a tiny burr of metal, sometimes a little bit more slop needs cutting into the nut or saddle slot. Sometimes the nut slot is too wide or worn.

Thanks for the suggestions and you are right on the money, it was a tiny burr on the bridge and was under the string.
Thanks for the insight.
Woody.

Nice one far better than having to cut a new nut. Glad it's sorted.
