Has anyone used, or even heard of, paints from Guitar ReRanch ( home.flash.net/~guitars/index.html)? I was thinking about buying some of their Gold Top Paint but I wanted to hear some other opinions before I go off spending money.

vF, No, I haven't personally used any of their products ere now, but I know two others in my neck of the woods who swear by Reranch's stuff. BTW, I note that your URL is not the Reranch official website. So I looked ( www.reranch.com), and sure enough, one site is a duplicate of the other. The page layouts and menus are different, but other than that, I can't tell one from the other without a scorecard! Wonder what's up with that? sumgai

I go to the ReRanch forum a lot. They have great info there on finishing. I plan on using them with my first build. A lot of people love the stuff. I'll probably use a different clear though, one that has UV blockers to prevent yellowing (like DEFT).

I've used ReRanch's stuff. They got the paints here really quick. I used the aerosol 3 color sunburst kit. Definitely a good place to deal with for painting an axe.
As far as the products themselves; those are also good in my opinion. The finish looks great.
If you're buying the products to make your guitar sound better, forget about it. All that nitro-finish hype is a bunch of crap.
If you're buying the products so your guitar feels less like plastic...and you want it to age like a vintage axe...then certainly it's worth the investment.

I was going to buy the gold top paint because a bright red Les Paul is not exactly my cup of joe. The only paint I've ever heard of that changed the guitar's tone was the silverburst on the Les Pauls. I didnt read about the "nitro-finish"
