OK, I have a pretty low quality acoustic guitar I bought from eBuyer back in January / February and I wanna sand it down and re-paint it matte black. What sort of paint should I use? I also want to sand down and re-paint the fretboard.

The options are limitless really. I would recommend a nitrocellulose lacquer. You can use a poly if that isn't available. Do you want to paint the back, sides, and neck black as well? Oh, and why does the fretboard have paint on it in the first place? Here's a pretty good tutorial: reranch.com/basics.htmCMA

why does the fretboard have paint on it in the first place? Um....... dunno. But it's not real ebony so it must be painted. Well, that's the conclusion I reached.

Oh, ok. No biggie, I was just curious. Have you decided what you want to use? What are the options available in your area?
