Hi all, I'm new to the guitar modification game, so any help would be appreciated . I'm trying to fit a Di Marzio Hs-2 pickup to the bridge position in my strat. It has four wires. According to the wiring document on DM's website. To wire it single coil, the black and green wires go to the back of the volume pot (Ground?). While the red wire goes to the selector switch (Hot?). This means I'm left with a white wire and an un insulated wire. Unless I'm mistaken These also go to ground, the diagram (to me anyway) is a bit fague on this point. This is how I've wired it and it sounds good. However, when both bridge and and middle pickup are selected the sound is a bit thin. I assume that this is due to the fact that the pickups are out of phase. Can I do anything about this? Sorry about the length of the post, but I've being going round in circles all afternoon.

(back of volume pot.) this is what they told you to do. green and white really don't matter. i'd rather not connect green and white both to ground (that shorts the unused coil), but even if you do, it won't make that much difference. connecting the bare to common will also be good, but not terrible, if you don't. if your bridge and middle are OoP that will sound very thin. if the neck and middle sound normal, i'd leave them alone. to match up the polarity of the middle and bridge, you could: A - swap the red and black wires of the diMarzio. Black now goes to hot, Red now goes to common. or B -- connect the Green to hot and the white to common. disconnect any other wire from the Hs 2 that was previously connected to hot. or C -- try A then B. they should both work, but one of them will reduce the amount of hum, when the bridge and middle are used together. then wire the way that reduces the hum when they are used together. cheers unk
