I was wondering if anyone was willing to share their "Blue Flame" experiences...funny, scary, or tragic?

i've always found myself to be terribly inadequate when attempting these. i don't think i've ever been successful when trying one... now would that be funny, scary or tragic ?

Blue Flame? my recommendations: a Bic lighter rather than matches. and ALWAYS wear jeans or at least some tighty-whities. a back-draft would be tragic.

Well...certianly not what I was thinking about..... I was thinking more the blue flame that comes from improperly grounded equipment (brought on by yesterday's discussion). ......though ironically, my first zap via a ungrounded amp was in a music store about 28 years ago when I sat down on a radiator to try out a bass. Clearly, I could have generated the kind of blue flame you were thinking about when it happened....but what I got was a very tingly tush. Good thing it wasn't summer....If I'd had shorts on......

ahhh.... i feel... silly?
i've never actually had any true 'blue flame' experiences of this sort either. of course i've had the 'touch your guitar & the mic at the same time and get tingly lips' thing happen to me, but i don't think i've ever experiences any electrical arcs.
i have tried to take steps to limit this possibility regardless.. especially after reading the grounding articles on guitarnuts. i now run everything through a power bar with a built in surge protector and ground detector. it has come in handy, because i have played places where the ground indicator let me know that my equipment wasn't properly grounded, and i've been able to move to a different outlet.
get a ground detector, for peace of mind if nothing else. they're not expensive, and they could save you a real 'blue flame'.
