So I picked up an EHX Small Clone today, since it's payday and something about Nirvana's "Come as You Are" on the radio grabbed me and held me tight. I know tone-gurus seldom list Kurt as one of their favorite sounds, but the tone on that song was awesome to me.
I remembered hearing once that the Small Clone was responsible for the chorus. Chorus is a staple in my cleans, but up until today, I'd never found one in any of the many modeling amps and amp modelers that sounded good to me. They all seemed... thin, and lacking in tonal options, no many how many parameters there were to mess with.
By God if this thing doesn't only have a switch and a knob and that's all it needs. Not only does it sound amazing all around, the amount of versatility with it is just astonishing! Or maybe it's not astonishing, and it just sounds so good that it seems like it is. In either case, in a long history of purchases and returns of different effects devices, this is one box I can safely say is staying with me for the long haul.
