GFS or Golden Age??? I want to go with a humbucker... vintage or a bit hotter. This is for a Kramer project that I want to keep within budget.

Either way, you're looking at imported, or rather, non US made pups. GFS is cheaper, has more choices, and you can use PayPal, (if that makes a difference to you, it does to me). I had a problem with them getting out of stock pups to me a while back, but I recently ordered a set of single coils and they shipped right away ...
Stew Mac is a reputable company, but, GFS makes OK pups at a decent price. I used some of the Fats awhile back and they were a good sounding set of 'buckers. The "build quality" isn't quite what you get in an American pup, specifically in my experience, DiMarzio, but once the pups are installed and making noise, that's not really relevant.
Hope this helps.

Appreciate the reply. The Fats were the ones I was leaning toward, and tone is what matters most...thanks. If I was to buy US made I was looking at the SD Custom, but the price is in the name I thought.

Greetings -
If you're a patient soul you can generally lurk on eBay and save a few coins on pickups. I was able to snag some Rio Grande pickups for about 40% of their normal selling price. Granted I lost a lot more auctions then I won, but I'm a patient (read as cheap) kind a guy...
Happy Trails
