I picked up this Ibanez ex 1700 in a pawn shop for $70 (US). This is without a doubt, one of the finest guitars ever made! First off, the wiring is great. Using the superswitch, You can get strat tones, paul tones, and a sweet combination of both. 2 hums, and a mid single, you can get Neck hum, neck single + mid, mid, mid + bridge single, and bridge hum. After som mods, I can also get 2 singles and a hum, and 2 hums. Great neck, which is strange for me, since I hate maple fretboards.
All is not perfect however. The p/u's lose clarity in high gain distortion, and the body, being a soft jap maple, tends to be a bit on the bright side. I also think that the trem system, which is a hipshot kind of clone, is a pain to set it rtight, but once set, it's set! Oh Ibanez, why did you drop the line?

I have got an Ibanez ex360 or 370. Its a way cheaper model than the ex1700. But i paid alot more than $70.
It still has a floyd licensed trem. The very thin and smooth, made out of maple or some other white wood with rosewood fretboard and sharktooth type inlays.
I dont know what the body is made of but its very light wieght. Dont know what the pickups are either.
Its in pieces at the moment. I hope to get it back together to use as a backup.
My friends all love it because of the high gloss paint and cool shape. Little do they know, i cant put it back together.
I agree with you badpenguin that they are great guitars, but mine has got cheap parts.

the RG line is the EX's successor, I think.. no , the EX line was a less expensive alternative to the RG guitars. sort of Ibanez's Squire or Epiphone

chuck, You keep this up, and we'll make you our Official Historian! But along with the honors goes the duty of kludging up a Master Catalog of sorts, showing links to common topics. The rest of the staff and I have threatened to do this, time and again, but having lived through it once already, none of us are willing to make the effort you're making now - that'd be like re-living it all over again! sumgai
