LOL . thought I would post up mine. so this guitar used to be called "b h". due to the fact it was just a guitar that I would try stuff on. well she got older and more beet up..... yet everything I tried on the thing made it feel and play better the. this weekend I striped her down and decided I would finish her off and give her a new name, and buy a new "b h" lol. so meet "UGLY DUCK" looks like hell but sings like a angel. she has a sing-hum set up with only a toggle on/off for the sing. believe it or not this thing sounds amazing. a real smooth blues sound with the sing off, and a real cool crunch sound with the sing on. the two things I have not done yet is a pickgaurd, it has a led in the pickup cavity so I'm going to use a clear piece of lexan and do a rev fade with black paint so the center will be clear fading to black. should look cool on a dark stage. and the other thing is I want to do a half scallop on the fret board. Pure laziness on that one have all the tools just haven't got in around to it yet. anyways hope you guys have a god laugh.... but seriously it sounds awesome.

Blackout, you almost sound dissapointed that we didn't rip on you, about your axe. okay, i'll try my hand a this: gee, with no middle pickup, you prolly can't get a good quack out of it. maybe just tele-twang or a honk. instead of the Ugly Duck, maybe you should call it the Silly Goose. not lauging yet? okay, i'll try again: with such a big open cavity, you better get a pick-guard on that thing fast, before you fall in! since you were so nice, to turn us on to all those great videos, i didn't want to let you down. how'd i do? unk

no I just felt it was funny thats all. I would have expected on most fourms to have a bunch of people to wig out on me. I built this thing to sound good and that was it. so I expected people to go nuts about how ugly it is and no one did.

this is quite a different kind of crowd here. small and almost like a family.
i wonder if the look of the board, you know the color and layout, have something to do with the way people feel when they write their posts here.
i've looked a few other boards, and even made a couple of posts on them, but this is the first place i ever did any on-line stuff. it just feels like a good place to be.

I play old rock and metal mostly, it has this great um ...... thick sound its like the early sabbath sound, or some of led zeplins more intresting sound. its a over welming thick sound with engough treble cuting though to not be to bassy, its hard to explane.
anyway I have some more work to do on it , I played it for the frist time in a 'on stage inviroment" and I found that at high volume and with a deacent amout of gain the single coil goes nuts with fead back and stuff. so I will have to fix that.
- I also have noted the famlyish fealing here and thats why I chose to talk here and not the other boards.

I love it!
For the pickguard, plexi glass is probably cheaper.

This reminds me of an SG (bolt-on) project I built for a guy. He wanted it to look like Keith Richards had slept with it for 20 years (acid bodily emissions and Jack Daniels herbal treatments) then woke up, and dragged it behind his motorcyle with a chain.
I had a hard time screwing the thing up till I mustered some courage and dropped it on the concrete a few times then savaged it with a belt sander. Man those modern poly finishes are tough.
But the beast got my players treatment and some vintage sounding -hums with a modified Jimmy Page scheme. It was a nice sounding player. And the customer was happy.
My thought about yours is the first thing that sprung out at me, and I am surprised that no one on this board has said anything (since most of us found it in searching for hum reduction mods) but wheres the top shielding. How about copper for the clear plexi you are thinking about? --- then you get shielding and stage presentation.
Lastly, I am not a natural fan of the "swimming pool" routs, sincerely believing they would be tone suckers. Also in that dogma was the belief that laminate bodies would have no tone. I obtained three however in a flurry, and built all of them up to sell. They sounded great, totally busting my own myths.
So it doesn't have to be pretty to sing, but I would still advocate the shielding.
