At long last I have my re-fretted Strat back from the shop. Guys, I cant tell you what a difference it makes. I had stainless 6105's wedged into her. I feel very little wood under my fingertips now while bending. Its a true blues lady now! Honestly its like a new guitar. It took very little time to get used to it from the Fender vintage frets that she came with. Theres alot to be said for different frets. Texas Specials and 6105 stainless! At last I have found my Excalibur!

wanted to send the neck of my revelation for refretting too this month but no money (really absolutely no money as in "i provide my own fretwire and the luthier wants only 50 euros for the job but still can't afford it")

Hey Dunkelfalke...It wasnt cheap I must say. A re-fret with stainless 6105. A new nut, strings and setup with taxes (15% in Canada) was $385. To me it was worth it because this is the Stratocaster that has the sound I have been looking for. I replaced the stock Fender pups with Texas Specials. Had a .22 cap installed, and it really sang! The only thing I didnt like was the feel of wood under my fingertips when I bent the strings. So either I bought a new neck or I had the frets replaced. I opted for the frets, and now in my opinion this is as close to Stratocaster perfection as I could ever hope for. Again, its only my opinion, but it matches perfectly with the sound that I have grown to love over the years.
