Hey peoples, Yeah, I know I've been a way for a while. Just had reality rear it's extremely ugly head, and bite me in the a$$.
During the intrim, I picked up a Kramer Pacer at my local guitar shop for a total of $80.oo. (They sell new for 114 at musicyo.com) It was three years old, with maybe 3 hours of playing time on it, so it was still band new. Want a great cheap guitar? Buy one of these suckers!!!
I have to 2 hum model, and without a doubt, it's the most bang for the buck in a rock guitar. Finish is excellant. fit and action? well, beyond what you'd expect for the money. sound? well, after changing out the pickups, (Epihones, which were a bit too muddy) It's a screamer! (I put in a set of duncan actives, but will be putting in a set of Kramer Quad rails in the near future.) The neck is a dream, and has a feel of a twenty year old guitar! However Kramer is treating the Chinese Slave labor, they're doing it right!
The 2 point trem is a weak point, but a few minutes with a screw driver, tightening the claw springs, fixed the problem. Even the tuners are of a decent quality. What surprised me mostly, was the wood. They advertise "laminate" but mine is solid agathis, with 2 thin veneers on the top and bottom. Yeah, I know. Agathis, the pine of "tonewoods" but this actually has sound and sustain! You can't beat these!
