I just bought a SG classic, went thru a set-up. problem is it goes out of tune real fast (after 3-4 mins of playing) and i've had that annoying problems with tuners with all guitars hate shelling 1000$ on a guitar just to replace the tuners after a week for 200$ more. happened with my strat too. all USA made.
I don't quite know which tuners are on it, it doesn't say on Gibson's Site (SG classic with Dual P-90s) just says on the tuners Gibson Deluxe.
Any idea which locking tuners, or better tuners will fit ? I bought a gotoh for my warmoth, those are wild, my guitar stays in tune for almost 20 mins and i torture my guitar (fixed bridge)

angie,
After only one week? I'll bet you're still using the strings that came on it, right?
Change 'em out. And if you've already done that, then go back and do it again, but this time, don't use that greasy kid stuff, step up to the counter and ask the nice man for a set of Dean Markley Blue Steels, in the gauge of your choice.
If you can make them go outta tune in less than 5 minutes, then you really do have a problem with your Gibby.
HTH

yeah, those are stock strings.
hmm, i prefer ernie ball 0.10's regular slinkys, i got about 11 sets lying around, hehe. i love those strings, i change strings every 1.5 months sometimes a month cause i like to play alot right now (it's 8 hours of school and around 6 hours of guitar for me) and figured the stock gibson strings are really good, thought wrong i guess. hehe
I didn't know strings affected tuning that much
Thanks for clearing that up

Shorter scale guitars tend to be less stable beasts anyway, in the tuning department. I always use GHS nut lube or the like on the nut and bridge, and I have a very particular way of stringing up my guitars, too. Inquire further if you'd like an explanation, I might just draw a diagram. That'd be simpler.
