Ive decided with this years income tax refund im going to get the SRV Strat. I have always wanted one and today I found a shop with one in stock. It felt great!...A little beefy in the neck, but my other Strat has a U shaped neck so the " oval " shape of the SRV wont be a problem. Im busting guys!!!...I cant wait to get it home next week. Yes, the pickguard has to go....but Ill save it and put it on my wall. Anyone else out there have one? Once ive had it for a while, ill give you my user opinion. btw....The girlfriend does NOT know! ill tell her ive had it for years but never played it! ;D

deep, It's OK to have a rained-on parade, so long as you remember to bring your umbrella (you know, like plan ahead or sumpin'). You can always tell her to shush up, you don't wanna spoil the surprise. A few episodes of that, and she'll get tired of the game. In the meantime, save up some shekels, and be prepared to take her out someplace nice. ;D p.s. Telling her that you banked it for the future never works! Don't ask me how I know this...... sumgai

Once one gets married, what's hers is hers and what's your's is hers. I didn't know that that applied beforehand. And, the truly wise always pay themselves their allowance (and maintain "black funds" like the NSA's budget ).

ChrisK is right, it's all hers. I did figure out that if I can guide (coerce?) one of the kids into a hobby I like, I have an excuse to spend a little money on it. My daughter doesn't play along, but the boys are pretty good. The "black funds" are an absolute must!

As the Mrs. does our taxes, I wouldn't even have the chance to use a refund on GAS.
She's caught me eying the SRV srat on a number of occasions.
Amazingly after Valentines day, the Mrs announced she was thisclose to getting me a Hofner Icon bass for VD. It seemed to her an incredible value for something I have kinda always wanted (I used to have a Kingston Hofner copy in H.S.). I did consider telling her that while it as an extremely nice gesture, it would be not be the best to have a Bass shipped in the middle of winter.....but I don't want to stifle her desire to feed my GAS.
From what I've been reading, many players are saying the Rouge VB-100 is equal to or greater than the Hofner Icon.

Im liking this black fund thingy!...Im sooooo glad I dont work in a music shop. Id want everything I see!!!!
The way I see it, I dont drink or smoke. My only vice is Coca Cola. I think I deserve a lil something from time to time. No better time then income tax refund time! Im paying for her ticket back to her homeland ( Philippines ) to see her family. She deserves it, she hast been back for over 20 years. All I want is a few toys every now and then! btw..Im not going with her, so theres going to be a jam at my place! Yaaaaa baby!

Many years ago, when I had to save up to buy a $30 book (mortgage, 2 kids, still "making my bones" in career), I hated it.
I did some consulting work then and made $2,000 (in 1985). I gave my wife $500, I kept $500, and I paid some bills with the rest.
With my $500 I bought traveler's checks that I carried in my wallet for about three years until I'd spent all of them.
I didn't necessarily buy more stuff than I did before then...
....BUT I COULD HAVE!
You start small. Cash rebate checks and put the cash in an envelope. Find ways to save small amounts. Open another bank account. Set up an auto deposit from your paycheck.
And, don't forget to pay yourself your allowance!
Then you find discretionary income.......

Well, if you could, you'd have lent the government way too much money at no interest. At only $26, you're going in the right fiscal direction.
If you want a bigger tax refund, lend the government more money.
If you want more in available funds, follow my advice above and save money. Then, at tax time (just so you feel "refund lucky", go take money out of "your tax loan to yourself" account.................
In time, you'll realize that you can take money out whenever you want, if you have money to take out.
I owe the government money every year. Coincidently, it's just under the amount that triggers a penalty. Hmmmm.............
It's your money!
Save it!

Hmmmm.............Save it!That is typically our boat as well... ...though this year we're getting a refund because of the $3K tax credit for buying a Prius. She says I should expect the Hofner sometime this year .
