Well its been a week since I bought my SRV Stratocaster. Lets start off by saying that this guitar will do much more then you think. Sure, youll get the SRV growl that youre looking for, but, it also cleans up beautifully and you can play sweet melodic passages with that "bell" like ambiance that only single coils can give you. I like sitting here with the lights out. Using the clean channel on my Marshall with full reverb....Lovely! The left hand tremolo took some getting used to, but its fine now and its even easier once you know its there. The finish was flawless and the neck, though beefy for some feels just fine in my hands. I have ordered a new pickguard. I Love ya Stevie, but I feel more comfy with a plain pickguard. Ill leave the plastic on it, and put it on my wall. Overall I cant get enough of this guitar. It feels solid and ready to go the moment you strap it on, and though it cost me close to $2000 including 14% Canadian taxes GRRRR! I feel ive earned this little piece of an American legend. I guess ill make my way to Texas, leave it at a crossroads late at night and well... ;D Heres the guitar along with my 1970's Strat. I call the white one 44

(* PREVIOUSLY * from "Sudden Buzzing Going Insane" ...) ..... I have a humidifier that keeps the moisture level in the room just right. FYI...In those private moments between the little lady and myself, I DO NOT think of the Stratocaster!...not lately anyway. (and NOW ...) ..... I like sitting here with the lights out. Using the clean channel on my Marshall with full reverb....Lovely! ..... Deep, Easy, big boy! There are minors who visit this site! Hey man, we understand ... we all knew you could only last so long with that SRV laying around, all alone and lonely-like. Dan

Mr_Sooty...44 has always been my favourite number. All of my guitars have a name or number which I try to hide for identification reasons in case of theft. Even if the serial number is taken off, I can I.d. the guitar that way. Im weird, I know! hehe

Not wierd at all. Smart. I should get some kind of hidden marker for mine. I also really want names for them, but they have to come naturally, they can't be too forced. My strats are called 'the twins', but they don't have individual names yet. Just the red one and the deluxe. They need better names.

What is the purpose of the left handed tremolo, I don't get it!

irnbru...
Some say, and I kind of agree that the lefty trem is better because you dont have to reach across the strings to use the trem bar. Its right there and parallel with the strings.
SRV in my opinion, used a lefty trem because his idol Jimi Hendrix used one. He also used to catch his sleeve on the bar from time to time while playing.

Ah, I thought it might have been jimi-related! The guitar looks beautifull, left hand trem or right hand anyway!

irnbru... Im talking Canadian dollars. In most cases if I had paid in American money it would have been a cheaper bottom line, in other words the final number would have been lower, but the guitar is made in California and shipped up here to Canada. Where at the border, tariffs and taxes are all added onto the price. Now that the Canadian dollar is doing so well, we may become more on par when purchasing guitars etc. In fact, they say in 5 years or less the Canadian dollar will be worth more then the U.S. dollar. *Note to my American friends here at GN2* Dont kill the messenger!
