Is there such a thing? I am looking to buy a new customised Fender Stratocaster neck, with customised inlays etc. But I want one with a Fender logo, becuase I intend to use as much Fender stuff as I can when building my guitar, but I also want it to be "unique".

Dyolf.... I was told that you must send in your old Fender neck, or at least prove its damaged to be allowed to purchase another authentic Fender neck. This keeps the aftermarket guys away and stops people from selling phony Fender guitars. I do know Warmoth make excellent necks with Fender shaped headstock. I also know you can purchase the Fender decals ( Not Fender approved ) through e-bay. btw...You say you want to build a Fender piece by piece?....its much cheaper in the long run to just buy an already assembled guitar. Lets us know how you make out!

It's not that I really want another guitar, I just want a project to do. But I will post my progress here. I've been on Warmoth but, and seeing as a real Fender neck is unlikely, it looks like i'm doing it Warmoth-style!

You might want to check out allparts bodies and necks. It doesn't sound like you want something really exotic or anything, and allparts is cheaper.

GuitarTechCraig...
It may have been ordered for a customer who changed their mind. It may not even be a genuine Fender.
All I know is that when I wanted to change my Fender neck a few years back I had to jump through hoops to get it done. They make it difficult for a reason, and frankly im glad that they do.
I wanted a flatter neck radius for my 70's Strat. It came with a 7.25 radius. I do alot of bending so I was fretting out all the time. I wrote to Fender, requesting a new neck, and how to go about getting one. I was looking for a 12' radius.
To make a long story short...Too much red tape to go through, and too expensive. I had my guitar re-fretted with Dunlop 6105 SS. Taller frets were just the ticket I needed!

btw...You say you want to build a Fender piece by piece?....its much cheaper in the long run to just buy an already assembled guitar. Do be careful... It's really going to depend on what you're looking for and what you're willing to compromise on. My Tele and Strat, for example - took about 3 months of nail biting and a lot of long hours monitoring auctions & inet searching, but I wound up with what is essentially (or appears to be) a next-to-factory fresh 2005 Fender USA Deluxe Telecaster for around $700.00 (including shipping & handling). The Strat totes up to around $600.00. So, If you're careful, you CAN save big and wind up with EXACTLY what you want form & function wise. As for the possibility of counterfeit parts - I was willing to take the chance. Besides, I like what I assembled so much I figure the only time they'll ever be authenticated is when the estate's in probate. I won't give any more of a hoot then than I do now. Also the rumors about the insane difficulty in buying an authentic neck from Fender are true. It's easier (and probably cheaper) to buy automatic weapons... And aftermarket? You can buy Fender LICENSED products, but not FENDER products. Look, learn, enjoy, sweat, and then decide if it's what you really want. Then come back & let us know how you made out. PH
