Guys.. I was rockin out on a Gibson SG last night. Not mine, but a friends. Its a nice guitar, it really is! Great sounds, feels good in the hands ( Not as good as a Strat )...but I can see why its a popular guitar. Trouble is... It reminds me too much of AC/DC....Too much of an Angus Young vibe happening when I play. Am I turning into a guitar snob?

deepblue I don't think so. I have no idea why Angus Young went on a personal campaign to make the Gibson SG Standard seem as if it is his guitar™©®. He didn't design it nor does he own the company that builds it. Then again there are other guitar players (Tony Iommi, Frank Zappa) that are famous for playing the Gibson SG.
As you may know, I bought one way back in 1980 because • it probably has the best action of any guitar ever made • it is lightweight • it looks impressive
At no point did Angus Young (either positively or negatively) influence my purchase of said SG.
Then again in this day and age, I'd use the money it takes to buy an SG Standard and buy about five guitars that are of pretty darned good quality.

Thanks Wolf...
Yes, I was impressed with the action above all. I just wish Angus had switched up every now and then to say...you know... a Mosrite or an El Degas! ;D

ChrisK...
OUCH!....The truth hurts though, does it not?
I find Angus's tone like a brain draining drone after a while.

One of the reasons might be the fact that an SG Standard is equipped with those chrome-covered, epoxy-filled, sealed-for-eternity "bricks" that don't allow those 4 wire series/parallel/coil-cut options. I think that is probably the biggest factor that drove me to my guitar rewiring ways. BWA-HA-HA !!! ;D

The real reason that we rewire guitars is......that we can.

I tip my hat to you gentleman who can/do your own wiring. I admit im all thumbs when it comes to performing those kinds of tasks. True, it costs me more to have it sent to the "Pros"...But it gives me peace of mind.
