It's shaped like an axe. Nowhere did I mention that it looked like a flying pork chop! It has 18 VDC active FET-based electronics, out of phase middle combination, a notch filter, and a single active tone control. All electronics are PCB based. Neck is 1 7/8" wide at the nut. Aside from the graphite reinforcements, it's all mahogany. It has a very jangly/bright/acoustic flavor. Got it with original case and all tags/literature. sum of youse gai's know why I bought this.

Chris, For the collector value? ;D And the extra wide nut, that can't hurt, as far as you're concerned. If you were left-handed, I'd say Elliot Easton is your hero! sumgai

ChrisK, Been kinda intriqued by that deacon the last couple days.......Seems to me I saw one in a "How to do this or that" book [mega years ago] and I thought it was a one off kinda test bed for Ovation R&D. recognized it as soon as I saw your post but must admit I've never seen another. Maybe I just need to get out more..... C'mon man ,tell us what you know about this beauty. It's a great lookin' guitar & the curiosity's killin me

Chris- Ok, I have to go wipe up my drool now . . . ;D The Ovation collector's site is a neat link, too. Found this one on there: www.ovationtribute.com/Models%20Rares/Condor%20-%20hammond/Condor%20-%20Hammond.htmlCirca 1971, the lead guitarist in my 8th grade garage band had one of these, he got it for a couple hundred bucks from a guy who worked for Hammond Organ Co, they were marketing these things back then, and when they discontinued these he bought up a bunch cheap. The earliest guitar synth that I know of. Fortunately, that ugly bridge cover comes off. We used to practice at the guy's house who had this so we didn't have to lug it around- about 50 lbs. in the case as I recall. The bassoon sound was pretty good, the Sitar setting didn't sound anything like a sitar. The 2-string bass options allowed you to play a bass line on the 5th and 6th strings, with the top four strings normal guitar- very cool.
