I have played through a Roland CUBE 60 more than several times and absolutely love the way this amp sounds. I've heard several other "modeling amps" and hated nearly all of them. The modulation effects are very lush and the reverb/delay section is very natural. The Jazz Chorus Clean and Acoustic Simulator are beautiful and the Rectifier setting will scorch your face right off of your skull. However, the CUBE 60 is slightly lacking as a modeling amp due to it's lack of patch storing ability and it's wacky footswitch section which is designed for 3 separately plugged in single footswitches, rather than just one independent footswitch with 3 stomp buttons. I recently discovered on the Roland website that the VGA-3 amplifier has mostly the exact same amp models and effects with the addition of 10 programmable patches accessible via an independent footswitch with 5 patch buttons and a bank button. As well as the VGA-3 has synth abilities when used with a GK equipped guitar. HERE'S MY DILEMMA - The VGA-3 appears to be a discontinued model and I can't find one anywhere locally to hear it. I wish to purchase one of these two amps, but before I can reach a decision I need to know: HAS ANYONE OUT THERE COMPARED THESE TWO AMPS AND DO THEY ACTUALLY SOUND IDENTICAL OR DO THEY JUST HAVE IDENTICAL FEATURES??? Your input would be greatly appreciated...
