I have one. I like the clean channel a lot. The dirty channel is too gritty for my taste, at least when it comes to crunchy rock 'n roll tones. The dirty channel does have a warmer clean tone than the clean channel. I had the amp retubed with JJ tubes. It did improve the tone some. I also run a 12DW7 (ECC802) in the second preamp spot. This decreases the gain in the dirty channel and makes that channel sound better for mild overdrive. I have kept the stock speaker, but many folks replace them. Since the Fender is only part of my rig, i use it for what it does best - a clean Fender tone with a nice treble shimmer. The speaker's fine for that. Popular replacements are Celestion Vintage 30, Jensen C12N, Eminence Texas Heat, or Eminence Red White And Blues. The Hot Rod Deluxe seems to have some quality issues, although mine's always worked fine. You can read lots more about the amp here (highly recommended)... studentweb.eku.edu/justin_holton/

It's one of my favorite "new" tube amps for under $700. I like the 3 channels and since they're footswitchable, I can cut back on my OD pedals and just add a distortion for solos (if necessary - the "hot channel" on its own has enough gain and sustain when using humbuckers and P-90s - have yet to try w/my G&L ASAT or Hamer Daytona Strat copy).
I also like the Carvin Nomad and Peavey Classic 30. FYI, I use an old Music Man HD210 as well as a bunch of other transistor amps from Peavey, Epiphone, Yamaha & Behringer in conjunction w/stomp boxes.

A/Picker: Bought one new in 05 and have giged just a few times with it Play a strat and a tele thru it and for the type of music (country to standard ballads with some blues thrown in) its pretty versital. It's real loud at the lower settings 2 and above and the middle channel can be eq'd to a sweet tele edge. I think it's a great amp and I hope you find one at a good price. Good luck. stigg.

Did you get one?
I recently got a tweed limited edition one with the jensen speaker. I really like it a lot. It is really nice. I was going to probably get a VOX AC15CC1 but the Hot Rod Deluxe picked me, I didn't pick it. I think sometimes it's best with some things when they pick you instead of the other way around. The first time I played one I knew it had the features I wanted. The VOX AC15CC1 is a super nice amp though. I have a VOX Pathfinder 15R which is a solid state amp that is something like it and is a super nice amp; has the tremolo and reverb just like the tube one.
Let us know if you got a Hot Rod Deluxe.
