I recently purchased a Peavey Windsor amp and when I am using relatively heavy preamp I get a lot of "niose" how can I stop this? It is not completely quiet with low preamp either.

Someone else may come along with a suggestion on how to stop the noise - you're certainly in the right place! - so hang tight in the meantime. Dan

I'll have some stuff to say about this, in about 5 days. I just started getting really bad noise outta my tube amp =/ I considered my options, and wound up taking it to a shop. But I'll make sure to talk to the guy that worked on it and pick his brain =) I'm probably going to spend $100 for a new tube and maybe fix a solder joint. I just don't have the time to dive into something as finals week rapidly approaches.
