Let me start by quoting something here...... If you ever find yourself being harassed by a techie who insists upon criticizing you for your interest in vacuum tubes, there is an easy answer. He can be silenced with a simple question. Ask him if any early type transistors will still be manufactured and used in new products in, say, the year 2030. If he's honest, the answer will be 'no'. Then tell him that the first-ever beam power tube is still selling in the millions today, and shows no sign of becoming obsolete ... after 60 years. That should get rid of him. This comes from an article about, you guessed it, our favorite amplifying device. Check it out at 6L6 Forever!. The site itself is called Vaccuum Tube Valley, hence the name of this thread. Check it all out, there's helluva lot to drool over! ;D sumgai

I usually apologize for the confusion.
"You've obviously confused me with the possibly one person alive today that actually cares about WTF you think."

IMHO....Tubes will go the way of the record player.
Technology is moving in leaps and bounds. Look at the first Marshall Valvestates of 10 or 15 years ago, and look at the Valvestate 2000s....No question!....Its all I use now, and its as warm and fuzzy as any tube amp.

yup,
and the line6 variax will replace all other existing guitars.
those lightweight, loud - only if ya want 'em to be, electronic drums will make all natural drums obsolete.
digital polyphonic synthesizers will replace ALL other instruments, including analog mono synths.
computers will then make polyphonic synths obsolete.
anyone in the market for a bridge? i have a nice one spanning the East River in NYC for sale.

Of course, since "thinking is the best way to travel", all real/actual instruments are moot anyway.
