I've read good things about the valve standard but most players are looking or smooth distortion. Is this amp capable of good clean tone? Would swapping any tubes increase clean tone; which tubes would you suggest ? thanks.

-Being that the Valve Standard has a separate gain and master volume control, this should help to keep the tones clean. But if it doesn't do enough, you can replace the 12AX7 preamp tube with a 12AT7 or 12AU7. These two tubes will lower the preamp gain more than the stock 12AX7. It might get you where you need to be.
