I am getting back my 1962 Bandmaster soon after being totally rebuilt, re capped, tubes, resistors, transformer etc.
The cab however needs to be retolexed, and I also need a back panel.
Anybody have any leads/info?
Thanks, Ug

Ug, Yeah, I've got a suggestion. Ship it over this way, and I'll re-tolex it for you, no problem. ............. 'Course, you might not see it again until my estate sale, heh hehe heh heh. ;D ;D ;D "On the Innerweb, no one know's that you're jealous!" If'n that doesn't work for ya (I can't for the life of me imagine how you'd ever refuse my offer!), you'll have to do the Google thing for instructions on applying Tolex. I just did a search on that, and found several sites. The reason I don't post a link now is that some of them are incomplete in one area or another. I suggest that you find one that suits you, and go for it. Either that, or ship it to someone with a lot of experience, and a fair price. This guy might be a good place to start. For back panels, go here, or try eBay. There's a vendor or two on there that sells back panels for nearly every Fender ever made. Not too badly priced, IIRC. HTH sumgai

Well, I wouldn't do it on a '62 bandmaster, but back in the band days, my Dad and I built my bass speaker cab, and rather than cover it, we painted it with automotive crinkle paint (to simulate a tolex type vinyl roof, remember THOSE!). It looked pretty good, was quite durable and was very easy to touch up when it got scraped. You really couldn't tell what it was until you touched it. We used it to touch up the amps as well if they got a gouge.

I have actually covered a few racks I have built and a couple cabs, but I think for resale value I should go with a Pro. The tech Bob Metzger who is doing the work said it will be worth twice as much with restored correct tolex (I should sell it to him)
