yeah, yeah, yeah. there are very few hi-fi amps that were single-ended, parallel output. you can pull one on those. but i dare say, there were no guitar amps that were SE parallel. they're all single tube SE. i dare say that, so someone will go on a quest to try to find the one instance where there was one. and prove me wrong. it's like that here at the top. don't lust for the mantle, my son. the burden is great. unk

don't lust for the mantle, my son. the burden is great. unk
It ain't the fireplace it's the D@mn purple robe I can't tolerate. Too Hot in Texas. Although i am being as silly as I can, and enjoying it thoroughly as it is Friday and day work sux, all and all, this is a serious question (sorry to disappoint). there are very few hi-fi amps that were single-ended, parallel output.

they're all single tube SE. This means what? That you need a minimum of 2 power tubes? If that is the case I suspected as much. What about the EL34 to 6l6 conversion (sorry JH I know you love Marshalls and the British anthem) RW STBZ

well you could use just one.......... but you wouldn't.
(ask Falke, he'll explain)
EL34 to 6L6.
shouldn't be a big deal.
swap the tubes and adjust the bias.

Hey Unk... How do you adjust the bias? My old Crate blue voodoo was self biasing...I hope thats a word!

yes, that's a word...................actually two.
but i know what you meant!
self-bias refers to using a resistor in the cathode circuit.
not the tiny values we use to monitor the current.
a large enough value that the cathode is reasonably more positive than ground.
the control grid is referenced to ground.
so it is negative with respect to the cathode.
to make a short story long, one might not even need to do any adjustment at all to do the valve conversion.
but, if the idle current is too far off, the size of the cathode resistor can be changed.
