Hey need help on doing a DIY baffle for my VC 508 1x8. I have grill cloth on order.
Should I try to make one myself? Or is there something I can modify to make one?
Or anywhere that would make a 1 x 8 baffle?

What is the whole project about? If you mean the baffle, as being the front face of the speaker enclosure, with an opening for the speaker, then it should be easy with a jig saw, out of Plywood or mdf. If its just for an 8" driver, then 1/2" = 12mm should be heavy enough.

1/2" for MDF, 3/4" for plywood. Can't take chances on that plywood having too many voids, now can we? sumgai

FIRST - Remove the speaker and measure the old baffle (length and width) and cut a new one to the same dimensions from MDF or plywood as suggested previously. THEN: 1. Measure the distance from all four edges of the old baffle to the edge of the hole as shown. 2. Measure the distances above from all four edges of the new baffle and make marks at four points as shown. 3. You should wind up with this... 4. Use a carpenter's square to "connect the dots" and draw a square. 5. Use a straightedge and draw lines to connect the four corners of the square. 6. Where "X" marks the spot, this point will be the center of the circular cutout. Drive a nail at "X", leaving the head proud of the surface. Tie a loop in a piece of twine or string (something that won't stretch, otherwise you won't get a circle...) and pull it taut to the EDGE of the square - NOT THE CORNER. Place a pencil tip against the string and hold it with your finger. Draw a circle at the limit of the string. 7. Hopefully you'll see something like this... 8. Drill a hole INSIDE the circle. Insert the blade of an electric jig or keyhole saw. Cut ON the line, or JUST OUTSIDE the line. Be careful - fingers don't grow back. Install the new baffle. HAVE FUN!
