I've got and old Fender Bandmaster head. The cabinet is long gone and I can't remember what the requirements are for the speaker cabinet. I thinks it's 8 ohms but, I'm not sure and I haven't been able to get this info from fender.com.
Does anyone know where I can get this info?
Also, if the amp is expecting 8 ohms and the cabinet is 4 ohms or 16 ohms, will this cause damage? TIA for any help.

I believe that they used both 4 and 8 ohm cabs for the bandmaster. No telling what yours is. Check ampwares.com and go to their fender feild amp guide. There is alot of info in there. If you have no luck there check the fenderforum.com. I have heard 8 ohm fender tube amps can run lower impedence such as four but I wouldnt chance it. It is also ok to run into a higher impedence cab say a 4 ohm head into an 8 or 16 ohm cab. You will just get less output. It is worse to run your amp through a lower impedence cab because it makes it work harder. So as a rule it is generally not good. Good luck tell us how it went. Peace Damian.

Thanks, Damian. I called the local amp guy and he told me that the old Bandmasters and Bassmans were 4 ohm and that they would sound pretty bad thru a 16 ohm cabinet.
