Hi all, I have just been given a Goldentone valve amp by a friend. He said it isn't working but everything lights up. I figure it will be a good project for me to work on and learn about valve amps. My question is does anyone know which model this is and if there is a schematic floating around? Front controls left to right; echo-volume, echo (1/4"), tremolo (1/4"), volume, bass, treble, tremolo speed, 2 inputs, volume, bass, treble. i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Night0wl/front.jpgBack i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Night0wl/back.jpgInside i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Night0wl/inside.jpgBottom i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Night0wl/bottom.jpgTransformer i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Night0wl/transformer.jpgCheers Shane

Shane, Nope, Google strikes out on this one. Looks like Goldentone was pretty much a "down under" marque, I didn't see the name used in any other region of the world. (Except by collectors from other countries.) Might have to ask around at some local repair facilities. (Say, could you shrink those images a bit, please? Especially the first one, but the others could probably use it too. Thanks.) (EDIT: Thanks, Shane, my monitor can rest easy now. ) sumgai

I seem to remember (from circa 1962 or 1963) that Goldentone was made by Rose Music (I think the leterrs RM in some form of shield was part of the logo)....Sumgai is right (again!!)..good ol' Oz-made! At the time we all aspired to Fender BF models, and couldn't get there fast enough...I had a Super Reverb 410...(sigh)
Have you tried any of the dudes playing with old amp bits on Oz-Ebay? I'll bet one of them could tell you some stuff...
....Ha!...just went back and looked at your pix.....I was right too!! (Sorry, Sumgai!)

unk, That is good news. Somehow, when I googled for it the first time, either I botched the search terms, or else it was buried way too deep for me. This time, I found it on the fifth page of the results. Like Gumbo says, sometimes I'm the pick, and sometimes I'm the string. sumgai

Sumgai, No probs with the pics. I didn't realise they were so big! gumbo, on the back of the amp it says 'Rose, Morris PTY LTD'. I found a page about them here. Unk, Thanks!!! This should come in handy! Cheers Shane
