Just bought a "velocette" 15 Watt class A amp. It appears to have blown the output transformer and some tubes and maybe some other components. Took it to a local repairman got a quote of $380. and brought it home unrepaired. I've been doing my own lutherie and guitar electronics for years and I 'm going to take a stab at repairing this amp. I realize this can be dangerous so I need some information as to "how to" and "what to do"! Any help would be greatly appreciated especially someone who's done this or knows this amp or tube amps in general. Thanks much. stigg.

I'd say the best piece of advice i've ever had is to keep one hand in your pocket while working inside a tube amp. If its just the transformer, replacing that and installing a good set of new tubes should be no big deal for you.
