seighton, Welcome to our forums! ;D Sadly, you've given us too little information from which we can make a meaningful diagnosis. Does this happen on only one channel, or both? Do all the controls work otherwise? Any funny sounds, like buzzing, or thumping when you turn it on/off, or unexpected distortions? Any funny smells coming from it? (A burnt transformer stinks for months after it's been roasted by a power surge.) The Insert jack (front panel, far right) is notorious for going bad. To test it, you'll need a stereo cable, as described in the manual. (If you don't already have it, you can download the manual from here.) Either short the two tips together, or else just plug them into an effects pedal that is set to bypass mode. That's about it for things you can do, in the field. Beyond that, it's time for a trip to the service shop, sorry. HTH sumgai

seighton,
Presuming a good speaker cable, and good speakers, then all that's left for you to test is the Insert jack. If that's good, then it's time to pack it up and head out on the highway, lookin' for adventure...... oops, sorry, got carried away there for a moment, having a flashback of Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper....... ;D
A good tech should be able to find the problem in short order. The only question will be, will the cost of fixing it, on top of the purchase price, be worth it to you? Only you can answer that question, sorry.
