Our online host is now nothing but one of the thousands of boards that colorful characters browse in their free time, to get their jollies by bothering innocent people. Therefore, the expected amount of spam, flaming, and abuse is considerably higher than at our previous, privately hosted home.
We are the only protection we have as far as dealing with such individuals, and as such I urge you to adhere to the following procedure in the event of the violation of our rules.
First and foremost: Do NOT attempt to report the abuse to Proboards![/u][/b] Prior experience has taught me that they have a very clean-cut method of dealing with abuse; cleanly cut all the board's content!
In the event that a user makes an abusive post, do not reply to the post in any way. Continue conversation as if the post had not been made; replying to such people only lets them know that you will play their game.
PM me, RandomHero, or one of our global moderators. (They can be found using the "staff" filter on the Members list.) Please include the offending poster's username, the board thread name, and a brief summary of the exchange in question. In most cases, I or another staff member will be available to review the report and take action that very same day.
PLEASE REPORT ALL ABUSE, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT THE TARGET. If everyone takes the stance that "someone else will do it," then no one will. I would much rather have a flooded inbox than be unaware of abuse from boards I may not frequently browse myself.

As shown by RandomHero above, I cannot report the abuse we've recently suffered in the Stolen Gear and Whammy Bar Forums. The best we can do is delete it as soon as it's found. Several of you have already emailed me, but in case you didn't know it, you can also email ChrisK, he also has the power to delete offenders and their misdeeds. For this particular episode, the culprit has already gotten the Hell out of Dodge, after signing up legitimately, doing his dirty deed, then shuffling off to Buffalo - there's nothing I can do to the dastard. The hard part of this is, if the crap continues, then I have no recourse but to require manual affirmation of newly registered members. I sure don't want to do that, it stifles many newcomers with questions that they feel can't wait. Rightly or wrongly, they deserve the best service we can give them, and making them wait until Chris or I next logon is not a good way to make someone feel welcome. I counsel that we all take intrusions like this with a grain of salt. Yes, I do want to hear about them, so PM me (and/or Chris) when you find one. But until the core group of you express outrage so dire, I'm not going to go into overkill mode, requiring the additional step for registration. HTH sumgai
