don't get confused, that main tune is played by a bass guitar ;-)
anyway, the song sounds quite different on different albums. just listen to the version on "a collection of great dance songs" where gilmour plays all the stringed instruments or the version on the pulse album (much different from dark side of the moon)
and yeah, tremolo was used in the beginning.

but it doesn't sound right on guitar.
just use bass for the bass lines, guitar with tremolo (not vibrato) in the beginning and fuzz face as distortion (the tremolo guitar is clean though).
you will possibly need a 24 fret guitar for the last solo.

definitely not. i know for sure that gilmour used a 24 fret guitar in studio. according to my tabs the third solo goes to the 22 fret and makes there a full tone bend.

Yes, it's heavy tremelo. You might get close to it with a tape or digital delay to. That's for the power chords mind you.

Holy Archives, Dyolf. You went a long way back to find this thread. I'm glad you did, though. Would it surprise anyone to know that I think the Bill Lewis guitar is very attractive?

Yes unfortunately most of the areas on the site are negelcted. without a doubt, wiring and electronics is the big attraction. but most others dont get any too many visitors...
