it's a pretty "standard" tone, actually. slight overdrive and slight reverb; the trick is to set the delay like this : 1. the delay time should be set that your delay "hits" equal to the drum beat. 2. the delayed tone should not be altered (in my korg there is an option to alter the delayed tone). 3. the decay (or feedback) should be set that every time you hit a note, it will "echo" for 3 times (not more than 3!). 4. the delay mix should be set to near maximum (i.e. 8 of 10). 5. for a more "unique" tone, try to add some chorus. hopefully it's easy enough to understand

here's a bit more "specific" setting : (of course, you'll need to tweak a bit since we don't use the same gears)
delay (from my korg ax100g) : - delay time 250ms - tone at 5 of 10 - feedback at 7 of 10 - mix at 6.3 of 10
od : - gain at 4 of 10 - tone is rather jazzy (slight mid & bass boost)
amp (clean channel) : - treble at 6 of 10 - mid at 7 of 10 - bass at 5 of 10 - reverb at 5 of 10
I never use a digitech pedal .. why don't you try to read the manual first?

hey, ive got an RP80 I'd say set Level to 50 Pickup/wah: Off Compressor: Off Amp Model: Try either H1, U1, c6 or a F1 Noise Gate: Off (turning it on cuts your tonal capabilities) EQ: b5, d5,t5 Delay: Im not too sure, A3, 25 sounds good i'd advice trying different patches out till you find one you like. Reverb: C5, Expression: - -
Give that a shot, and you could try playing a little bith with your volume control to get a slightly nicer tone of distortion... I use my volume control a lot, its so versatile.

I saw Andy Summers on the telly last night. He was showing some of his effects he used while with the Police. His rack was huge! Far too many gizmos and gadgets. Presets, buttons...more buttons! My word, his feet must have got a workout as well as his hands after a show!

I thought he used an EH deluxe electric mistress... is that just plain wrong? its an analog flanger for those who didn't know... I thought the classic Police sound was a flanger not chorus, but then again I'm not good at picking the difference between those 2 effects.
