I'm curious. It's supposed to be how KoRn gets their mean, mean sound. (Their old sound, mind you. The new makes KoRn fans wanna cry.)

In case you haven't already looked here: www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Data/ProCo. You get to figure out just which one you're looking for, from this list: - Large Box Rat
- RAT
- RAT 2
- RAT 2 Reissue
- RAT R2DU
- Turbo RAT
- Vintage RAT
- Vintage RAT 2
- You Dirty Rat
I'm not making up that last one; it's really on the page. Some of those could very well be the same pedal by a different name. Some reviewers don't bother to post the same place everyone before them did. There's also something there called the BRAT, plus two other products. Looks like ProCo kinda "hung their hat on the Rat." Happy hunting.

I've played through one that muy uncle has, and I consider it to be better than the TS. Maybe it just suited my tastes better, but it really sounds good. Makes my fender amp sound like a marshall, to me. Though I'm not certain, I think my uncle owns the original RAT.

I got mine in 1985, small box, non-LED. I like it with low output pickups, but since i am using high output humbuckers now I don't use it much at all. The extra output makes it sound more like a fuzz than a distortion. Almost Big Muff.

Or is it early in the morning for you too? ~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~ blank, No sweat, it's all fair game here! But I confess, I don't think RandomHero has chimed in for quite awhile. I have one of these pedals. It's built like a tank but I hate the sound. It's too, what words could I use, 80's metal sounding. Too fake, digital perhaps. It sounds like a distortion effect and not an overdrive, which is what the thing is. If you crank the drive all the way up it does get pretty dirty but the pedal carries a lot of highs with it. You can fix this with the tone knob on the pedal but then the sound is still pretty thin. If you want one I'll gladly sell you mine.
